Every decade, the Mka tribe sends caravans of adventurers into the Phithi—a tumultuous weather event that bars the Uwando tribes and makes existence beyond the refuges almost unliveable. Their mission is threefold: establish diplomatic and commercial relations, push out and reclaim lands abandoned to beasts and raiders, and, most importantly, create a fresh tree city as a refuge for the Mka and their allies. Whether they succeed or falter, these caravans are tasked with relaying their gathered experiences back to the capital via crystospheres transported by roaming beetles.

This tactical survival RPG is both imaginative and engaging. As it remains in early access, it’s understandably rough around the edges, yet I’ve thoroughly enjoyed playing it and eagerly await additional content. Some balancing is needed—poor character RNG can doom a run from the start. Nevertheless, it’s a fun game; the initial learning curve does seem steep, but once learned, it’s easy to establish a rhythm and tackle each trip with strategy. The world seems immersive, courtesy of well-done music, voice acting, and overall design.
