So, I was scrolling through the web and found some crazy news about the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra. Like, they’re saying it’s probably gonna rock the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor, which is like… still in the future. Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 hasn’t even been released yet, so this info is making my head spin a bit, but I’ll try to break it down.
Okay, so Qualcomm hasn’t officially dropped the Gen 4 processor yet (they’re gonna do it next month apparently), but what’s more exciting is the stuff about Gen 5! I heard the first phones to use Gen 4 might be from Xiaomi, but Samsung’s already setting up to use the Gen 5 for their Galaxy S26 Ultra in 2025. That’s some serious future talk, right?
TSMC & Samsung Foundry Teaming Up Again
There’s this tech leaker, The Undead (lol, cool name), who shared some details on Weibo. Basically, Qualcomm’s gonna team up with both TSMC and Samsung Foundry for Gen 5, which is kind of a big deal ‘cause the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 had some issues when they only worked with Samsung. But seems like they’ve worked things out now.
What About Speed?
The Gen 5 chipset is keeping the 2+6 core setup like Gen 4. In simple words, there will be two big performance cores (called Cortex-X925) and six smaller efficient cores (Cortex-A725). But here’s the cool part: the Gen 5 is gonna use a 3nm architecture (fancy tech stuff) with speeds up to 5.0GHz! That’s pretty insane. But that 5.0GHz boost is only gonna be on TSMC-made chips. The efficient cores are still super fast though – they’ll hit 4.0GHz.
Now, all this is kinda tech-heavy, but just know this phone is gonna be fast – like really, really fast. Can’t wait to see how it plays out in 2025 when the Galaxy S26 Ultra finally gets its hands on it!
