Overview of Love, Elections, and Chocolate

Love, Elections, and Chocolate is a romantic visual novel developed by the Japanese studio Sprite. When it launched in Japan, it flew, winning awards for its gorgeous graphics, catchy music, and adorable cast.

The story is about two childhood friends: Oojima Yuuki, an eternal optimist, and Sumiyoshi Chisato, who strangely dislikes chocolate. They go to Takafuji Academy, a gigantic school with more than 5,000 students, and are members of the Culinary Research Club. Sounds cool, but actually, it’s nothing more than a gathering place to snack on food with friends.

Things shift when the Student Council presidential election looms, threatening their laid-back club with closure by a formidable candidate, Shinonome Satsuki. Their only move? Jump into the race and block her victory at all costs!

The club’s president, Yuuki’s childhood buddy, is sharp, sporty, and larger-than-life. She’s also boldly claimed Yuuki as hers, stirring up some… fun dynamics.

There’s also the hardworking, perpetually smiling girl at Takafuji on scholarship, juggling school and taking care of her two little brothers. Her smile is flat-out contagious.

The club’s newest member is a reserved, aloof sort—think cat-like energy—usually just grumbling “Meh” when she deigns to say anything.

Another member is a delicate girl who had to repeat a year because she was ill. Her sense of humor is dry, but she’s a pillar of strength for her best friend, Chisato.

Shinonome Satsuki, the Student Council’s treasurer and election frontrunner, is as clever as she is gorgeous—and she’s got a major sugar obsession.

The ex-president of the club is a brilliant tinkerer, whipping up wild inventions. Fun fact: Yuuki’s top treat is roll cake.

The vice president hails from a big snack-food family. He’s courteous and mild-mannered, but don’t be fooled—he’s sly with his quips.

Then there’s the sassy, superficial girl from a fishmonger family. Call her “monkey,” and she flips—rarely apart from her lifelong pal, Ai.

Lastly, the club’s advisor, Satsuki’s older sister, seems like a boozy troublemaker but oozes character.

It’s a whirlwind of love, tension, and plenty of sugary delights—quite literally.
