The Legendary GTA 3D Trilogy

The GTA 3D trilogy—GTA III, Vice City, and San Andreas—remains a cornerstone of gaming. These titles broke ground for open-world adventures and sparked a revolution that shaped the industry. They’ve held up so well that fans are now hauling them onto fresh platforms with serious passion.

Last year, in 2024, modder Stefanos Kornilios Mitsis Poiitidis (SKMP) and his team pulled off a jaw-dropping feat: they brought GTA III to the SEGA Dreamcast. Vice City’s Dreamcast Adventure Begins

Next up, SKMP and his squad are taking on Grand Theft Auto: Vice City for the Dreamcast, as noted by Time Extension. Early clips show it’s rough around the edges—visual glitches galore and no sound yet. A video dropped a day later showed some improvement, with the game starting to settle down.

Porting this to the Dreamcast’s unique hardware, a far cry from the PS2 or Xbox, is a huge win already. With a bit more tinkering, SKMP’s crew could have it running as smoothly as their GTA III triumph.
